In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.

Dalai Lama

It’s never too late to start fleshing out your new 2021 vision! It’s important to visualize how you will feel once you have achieved it. What is it that this vision will do for you? What is the quality you want it to evoke in you and how can you experience some of that quality right now?

Let’s suppose, for example, your goal or vision is to be the most fit you’ve ever been.  Maybe you want to run a marathon. How would you feel? Powerful, empowered, strong, full of energy? What makes you feel powerful or strong now

What if you want to lose 20 pounds? How would you feel if you achieved that goal? Would you feel sleek, more confident, enjoy your clothes more, or maybe have happier knees? Imagine how you could feel sleek and confident now. What loving support can you offer your knees today? The point is to imagine having the thing you envision now.

This is where affirming language plays an important role. You are paying close attention to the voice in your head, right? The “I am…” statement feeds your subconscious with what it is you truly do want. Even if you don’t quite believe it yet yourself. Craft a statement as if you already are the way you want to be or have what you want to have. “I am strong, powerful, and full of vitality.” “I am sleek, sexy, confident.” “I am free of pain.”

Play with your new vision

Once you have come up with a vision for yourself — the way you want to see yourself in the new year — imagine this vision in symbols and pictures. The subconscious responds well to pictures (and words) so make a new vision collage that represents how you will feel being, having, or doing the thing you want.

Get out magazines, colored pens, glitter, paper, scissors, and glue sticks. Take your time cutting out images and sorting them into piles. Don’t think too much about it. Just respond to the images and words that attract you while you focus on the feeling your goal or vision represents. Put on some music and light a candle if you want to set a soothing ambience that inspires the creativity and intuitive muse.

After awhile (this could take a few days if you want), when you have accumulated a nice pile of clippings, get out a clean piece of poster paper and start arranging your images. Don’t worry about getting the design perfect. Just let it please you. Then you can start to glue the clippings down, adding other embellishments as you want. One of my friends likes to collage in the pages of her journal instead of on a separate piece of paper. You could even collage a box if you like. Be creative and take your time. When you feel it represents your vision, place it where you can see it everyday.

Make an altar to represent your new vision

Find a small table or shelf to place a few objects that symbolize your new vision. This could be a few photos, crystals, shells, feathers, rocks, books, or perhaps a letter or affirmations you have written. You might hang your collage behind it or nearby. Light a candle to ignite the energy for your vision each time you visit your altar, preferably everyday. This can be powerful “magic,” if you decide to give yourself to your inspiration, intention, and vision for the best you.

May you live the abundantly good and Gorgeously Healthy vision you desire.

Love and blessings,

Gay
