The world has changed. Nothing seems the same. We are crossing another threshold to something new and unknown. It feels exciting … and a little scary.
Yesterday’s new moon energy in Virgo is still in play, so it’s an excellent time to cast new intentions. Create a new story for yourself in your own personal universe. This will take some courage if you are honest about what you truly want.
The root of the word courage is “coeur,” which means heart in French. You know how much I love all things French! With our hearts we decide what’s right for us.
Standing in our courage means we begin again with our hearts intact.
This begs the question: where are we half-hearted? What isn’t working for us anymore?
For me, my heart keeps reminding me that I do not need to fix or solve other people’s problems. I need to recognize when I fall into an “empathic pot hole” and remember I don’t have to, or need to, have all the answers. When I jump in to fix, save, or rescue someone else, it actually robs them of their own confidence and ability to stand in their courage.
Setting Intentions and Following Through
An exercise I find useful for gaining clarity on intentions is to identify a big goal, intention, desire, or project that you want to accomplish, and list 3 items for each of the following 5 areas:
What do I want to:
- stop doing
- do less of
- keep doing
- do more of
- start doing
After you write 3 answers for each of these, select your top 3 out of all of them to take action on.
When I did this exercise recently I came up with this:
- Dress like the Goddess you are every day (no more pjs or yoga pants)
- Go to bed early (before 10pm)
- Do stretch/yoga/strength exercises for 30 minutes (6 days a week)
These are three daily intentions I can easily focus on for the month. Narrowing down the list and focusing on only 3 ideas makes it easier to follow through on my intentions.
The power of this exercise cannot be overstated. Letting go, and cleaning up what isn’t working is equally potent.
As we get nearer to the Fall Equinox I will discuss this idea further, but for now look at your “stop doing” and “do less of” items. This is a great topic of conversation to have with your close friends and family, or to journal about. Maybe you would like to plan an equinox ritual to release these things once and for all.
