Waiting for the unknown. That seems like a theme we’ve all been living with for months. Will the other shoe drop tomorrow or will the sky open up? It can feel frustrating not being able to keep moving forward at a comfortable pace, achieving our goals.
But given that we can only create in this moment, maybe slowing down gives us a rare opportunity to examine the potential of our future in a way that we would ordinarily miss if we were busy moving ahead. It really is as if the universe is trying to change our direction. And this is probably a good thing, providing we can let go of fears and attachments to whatever we thought we wanted or were planning.
Have you ever had the experience of running into one obstacle after another, forced finally to surrender, and then suddenly a person or solution miraculously appeared, giving you just the perfect answer to your dilemma? One that you had never thought of? I’ll bet you have. Sometimes we have to trust that our better angels are at work for us and for our greater good.
It may be time to surrender the old familiar ways of doing things. We have a great opportunity now to let go. Instead of insisting that you have to figure it all out yourself, let Spirit, God, or Goddess lead the way. As we quiet our busy lives, we can surrender to a higher knowing.
Let go of negativity
The energy of the waning summer season is preparing us for this surrender. The task is to appreciate and harvest all that we have been nurturing and then take time to celebrate all those gifts. Realize that in order to bring something new and wonderful into our lives, we must be actively willing to let go of what was.
What is waiting for you to let go of it? Certain family members or friends? A profession or work? Habits, thoughts, beliefs, worries? There is probably a good long list you could come up with.
It’s easy to slip into catastrophic thinking when the people around us are upset and complaining. Don’t go where fear wants to pull you! Step outside and ground yourself. Literally take off your shoes and touch the earth, and breathe! Transmute any toxic energy with the help of Mother Earth.
Fill your gratitude tank
Acknowledge what is and fill yourself with gratitude for all that was, that is, and that is yet to be. This is key.
After all, what have we been waiting to learn or understand about ourselves? Our world? Our fellow humans? The more awareness and gratitude we have about our bigger purpose and what it is we actually want to be doing, the lighter we are able to feel. Keeping a heart full of gratitude helps us re-establish a more positive frame of mind in which to do our own personal magic. The world needs this now. More than ever, the world needs all of us to be fully present.
Consciously change the channel
It really is time to edit all the voices we allow in and around us. It is one of the few things we do have control of, and doing so can help us have a more positive impact on our health and well-being, as well as on the health and well-being of those around us.
Catch yourself when you start to fall into fearful or negative thoughts. Consciously change the channel. It only takes a second. This is so simple and so powerful. Each moment is yours. Choose it!
