When I was a very little girl my grandparents took me and my brother to the circus.
I was in awe of the trapeze artists. I wanted to be someone who could fly through the air so gracefully! This was before the time of Cirque du Soleil, but it left an indelible impression on me.
There is a pure and magical moment that happens for a trapezist, that moment between reaching for the next rung and letting go of the old one as they gain momentum and fly forward. This requires trust and timing but, most importantly, a feeling of momentum that literally pulls you forward.
It isn’t a thinking exercise at all. It’s a feeling of connection and the spirit of courage that propels the flight.
Wait for the signal that pulls you.
We may not always be consciously aware of what we need to let go of until the moment arrives when we know we can’t continue to hold back if we’re going to catch that next rung. It feels natural and in total rhythm with what’s right. This is more than just a metaphor; it’s a real thing we often face.
The answers or solutions we need are never created in the past or future. They always come from the present. It’s an experience in the moment. And it is not from the rational, thinking mind.
Sometimes we hesitate to initiate change because we don’t know where we’re going, or we don’t yet have all the information or pieces to the puzzle. This is that timing thing. We don’t need to force anything until we feel the pull.
Are you letting the moment whiz by?
That said, if it’s fear holding us back, then those “pull” moments will just keep whizzing past us. So get curious. What’s waiting to make itself known to you?
I often get ideas that I “think” I want to take action on but am missing that “pull” feeling. When I wait, I usually discover why it wasn’t the right time or the right thing after all.
Learning to trust ourselves and our inner knowing has never been more important.
If we are busy with fearful thoughts, we probably won’t even notice when the pull moment occurs. We’ll miss our cue that it’s time to fly.
Have a Gorgeously Healthy flight!
